Christmas Vacation, a photo post in two parts

24.12.11

Sorry for the silence around these parts lately, but I have been preparing for our trip down to California for the holidays, and once we arrived I have been enjoying the company of my family. It has been really nice for Will and I to get away for the holidays and visit my family in sunny, Northern California. Our trip has been busy with lots of tasty food, shopping, games, decorating the tree and bike riding for Will. Cassidy also has had a lot of fun whooping it up with my family's dogs.

On Thursday, we enjoyed a lovely family dinner out at New Moon Cafe in Nevada City, CA. Nevada City is a quaint Goldrush town just North of where my family lives. It's really nice to walk around during the holidays because the whole town is lit up and has festive window displays in all the shops.

Although it turned out a little blurry, I love this photo of Will and my mom. It was a great candid shot of them laughing.

We had such a great dinner at New Moon Cafe. Everything was delicious, but I think the real standouts were the ravioli appetizer, my mom's osso bucco, my stepdad's flat iron steak and all the delicious desserts. I had the duck leg with black mission figs, pearl onions and barley, which was quite good.

We had a Brute Rosé from Alsace to start and my mom brought a wine that her and my stepfather got while vacationing in Italy several years ago. It was a delicious 2001 Chianti Classico, and a real treat to share together!

We had a bourbon brown sugar crème brûlée, gingerbread spice cake with pumpkin mousse and gingersnap cookie dough icecream. My mouth is just watering typing this!

Cheers!

I hope you all are enjoying this holiday season.
From my family to yours, Merry Christmas, Joyeux Noël, and Feliz Navidad!
