The best part about the recipe is how quick and simple it is, but the flavors are amazing. You want to eat these little guys pretty much like edamame; scraping all the little peas with your teeth. I ended up only finding fresh shell beans at the market, but as long as they are not tough like fava or cranberry this recipe will work just fine.
If making these you really want to start with the freshest young peas/beans available. If they are a little old than they will be too tough.
Grilled Shell Beans/Peas
Fresh Shell Beans or English Peas
Place peas/beans in a bowl and drizzle with olive oil. Sprinkle generously with coarse sea salt and pepper. Toss to coat.
Put peas/beans on a hot grill so they don't fall through the grates. Grill for a couple minutes each side until they are charred and peas are tender inside.
Remove peas/beans to a bowl and garnish how you like. (more salt, fresh herbs, balsamic, hot sauce, etc.)
